How to Find Game Files on Linux for Modding?

My girlfriend just got her first PC, which has Linux installed. We're trying to mod a game called Risk of Rain 2 using an app named r2modman, but we're stuck finding the Steam executable. I've located the Steam folder, but I can't find the executable file anywhere. Can anyone guide us through this process? We really need help, and I'd appreciate if you keep the tech jargon to a minimum!

What game exactly are you trying to mod? Just asking for clarity, as the process might differ a bit depending on the game.

You can right-click on Risk of Rain 2 in your library, go to properties, and check for an option that mentions local files or browse files. This should open the directory where all the files are located for that game!

Linux doesn't use .exe files like Windows does. Instead, the game itself is what you should be looking for. Since you've found the Steam folder, try looking in the 'steamapps/common' directory where your games should be installed. If you're trying to find specific files, remember that Linux is case-sensitive, so double-check the names! To easily locate the folder for your game, just right-click it in Steam, select 'Manage,' then 'Browse Local Files'.

We are specifically trying to mod Risk of Rain 2 using r2modman, and it needs to access the Steam executable. Without .exes, how do we proceed?

Can you let us know which Linux distribution you're using and how you've installed Steam? It could help us give more tailored advice.
