How to Find RST Settings in BIOS for My Dell PC?

Asked By TechieNerd24 On

I've been searching everywhere in the BIOS for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RST) settings and I just can't seem to locate them. I'm trying to switch my operating system to Linux Mint, but it seems like my current settings are causing issues. I've been stuck on a blue screen for hours now! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just to clarify, I have a Dell PC and the boot mode is set to UEFI.

It can be tricky with BIOS settings, especially if it's an InsydeOS BIOS. Check under the 'Advanced' section first. If there’s no storage section, you might be looking in the wrong menu. Sometimes, it's just labeled differently for Dell PCs. Don’t give up!

Thanks! I'll keep looking and see if I can find it.

Just a heads-up, if you happen to be able to boot into Windows or Safe Mode, you could check for crash logs in C:WindowsMinidump. If you find any dump files, you might upload those for further analysis, but it sounds like you're more focused on getting Linux running right now!

Thanks, but I'm mostly focused on fixing this blue screen issue first!

It sounds like you're having a rough time! For newer Dell BIOS versions, you should check the 'Advanced' tab. From there, go to 'Storage' and see if you can change the RAID setting to AHCI or vice versa. Sometimes it's just changing that option that helps with installation issues.

Got it, I'll check that out! Thanks for the tip!

Make sure to look for an option labeled 'VMD' in your BIOS settings and disable it. This could be affecting your ability to see the drives during installation. I found this information from Dell's support page, but keep in mind it might be different for Linux compared to Windows.

Interesting! I'll give that a shot for Linux Mint. Thanks for the heads up!
