How to Fix Chrome Saying It’s Managed by an Administrator?

I'm having an issue with Chrome on my computer where it says it's "managed by an administrator". I don't have any admin access since I'm the only user, and I don't recall making any changes that would cause this. When I check chrome://management/, it shows that my computer is managed by a name I don't recognize—SpecterZerovex. I've uninstalled Chrome, switched devices, and ran antivirus scans, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

You should run an offline antivirus scan, as it might catch anything that standard scans miss. It could be that there's malware that's affecting your system's settings and displaying that message. This could help you rule out any hidden threats.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll download an offline scanner and see if that helps my situation.

It’s also a good idea to remove any potential work credentials from your accounts. Sometimes, the browser can get linked to an account that has admin rights by accident. Just double-check your logged-in accounts and disconnect those that aren't purely personal.

I didn’t think of that! I’ll check and see if I can find any work-related logins and remove them.

Have you checked if you might have unknowingly installed a browser extension? SpecterZerovex sounds like it could be a malicious extension messing with your settings, causing the admin message. Try removing any suspicious Chrome extensions directly from the browser settings to see if that helps.

I just looked at my extensions and noticed some I don’t remember installing. I’ll try removing them and see if that works.
