I recently upgraded to a 7800x3d processor from a 7700, and now I'm experiencing micro-stuttering in online games at random moments. I've swapped out my SSD and motherboard, but nothing seems to help. I've also tried various BIOS settings and different versions of Windows, but the stuttering persists. I thought the problem might be with the 7800x3d, so I replaced it with a 9800x3d, yet the issue remains. Does anyone have suggestions on what else I could try?

Have you checked your internet connection? If you're only having issues with online games, it might not be the processor but rather your networking setup. Are you using a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi? Also, ensure that your BIOS is up to date, as there might be fixes available for 7800+ processors.
I had similar stuttering issues, and it turned out my router was the culprit. Resetting the router gave me a temporary fix; maybe that's something to look into as well.
Also, what's your graphics card? The specific GPU can affect performance in online games, and it's worth mentioning what you're using.
It’s crucial to methodically diagnose this. Start with a clean slate—reset your BIOS to default, log performance metrics while you play, and see exactly where the hiccups occur. Adjust settings step by step afterward. Have you tried resetting your CMOS or running everything at stock settings before tweaking?
I did try a standard BIOS setup already, but the stutters didn’t go away even after changing the SSD and motherboard.
If you notice the stutters mainly when moving your mouse around, there could be something wrong with your mouse settings. I had micro-stutters, and after updating or reinstalling my mouse software (like Razer), the problem went away completely.
Could this be a driver issue too? If your drivers aren't updated, it could definitely cause stuttering. It's worth installing fresh drivers.
I have the latest drivers, so this shouldn't be the problem.
This might sound a bit random, but try turning off Game Mode and Game Bar in Windows, then restart your system. It helped me once when I had similar stuttering issues years ago. Also, set your power settings to performance mode; that could make a difference.
I’ve set it to performance mode already. I turned off Game Mode and Game Bar too, but I can’t remember if I did it properly.
What games are you playing, and what settings are you using? I noticed issues in Overwatch 2 when playing at max settings. Sometimes, backing off the graphics settings can help a lot, even if your system can handle it. For example, I have a 9700x and RTX 5070, and I faced the same stutter at high settings. What settings are you using currently?
I'm playing Valorant at low settings in full HD. I also tried CS2 and Apex, and I noticed problems there too.

The BIOS is up to date. It's late at night here and I haven't noticed any issues in Valorant just now, but they were frequent earlier.
