I'm really fed up with trying to safely remove my hard drives. I keep getting the 'volume in use' popups, even though file checking says nothing is using them. Is there a script or software that can help me eject them safely without having to restart my laptop? Sometimes, I just unplug them because it's too frustrating to deal with the constant issues.

There are plenty of software options you can try for this. Personally, I use USB Safely Remove, and it’s been a lifesaver for managing HDD ejections. It helps you to safely eject drives without the hassle. You might want to give it a shot!
Just a heads up about USB Safely Remove: it can show you what’s keeping the HDD in use, but it won't forcefully kill programs using the disk. So you can check what may be causing the issue and decide how to handle it without shutting anything down.
