How to Handle Location Access Prompts in Windows 11 24H2?

Since the Windows 11 24H2 update, there's a new prompt that appears when apps request access to location services. Users are faced with a yes or no option, and selecting 'no' can cause the app to malfunction. We have a specific application used by all our end users, and this change is creating a hassle since there seems to be no Group Policy Object (GPO) to manage these permissions. Plus, the prompt is user-specific, meaning even if an admin grants permission, it won't carry over to other users on the same machine. Has anyone else dealt with this issue and have any tips?

I don't believe there's a GPO for this situation, but you can manage it through the registry. You'll need to navigate to the registry settings corresponding to the Privacy & Security > Location section in Windows. First, enable the registry keys at CapabilityAccessManagerConsentStorelocation for both HKLM and HKCU. From there, you can set permissions for location access per app, whether it’s a packaged app or a non-packaged one.

I need to dive deeper into this! Is it straightforward to add an app that needs location access?

I'm struggling to figure this out too. The location setting shows 'allow' already, but it seems my app falls under non-packaged. Not sure how to capture and adjust this correctly on all the machines.
