I'm looking for advice on performing a storage and compute vMotion for servers that have static IPs, specifically when moving to a different port group that will be on a different VLAN. Should I add an additional NIC with a static IP in the new port group so that it gains connectivity once the vMotion is completed, or would it be better to change the IP and port group settings on the existing NIC before starting the vMotion? I'm open to any other suggestions too!

In my experience, we simply added a new NIC assignment on the new VLAN for the vMotion and then moved the VMs over. It went smoothly. Just a heads up though, the challenges with vendor hardware can be a real pain in the neck!

I'm more concerned about how to address the static IP change since the VMs are moving to a different VLAN and subnet. And yes, Broadcom can really be frustrating!
