I'm trying to switch my HP Pavilion 15 laptop to AHCI mode, but every time I make the change in BIOS/UEFI, it reverts back to RST after saving. I've looked into it, and the other settings I change save just fine, but AHCI just won't stick. I've even tried methods like booting into safe mode and editing the registry as suggested by Ubuntu, but nothing seems to work. Any tips on how to make AHCI the default setting? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, if your BIOS isn't holding the AHCI setting, definitely check for a BIOS update. Additionally, make sure no other hardware settings might be conflicting with that choice. Have you tried resetting the BIOS to default first before making the change? Sometimes, a fresh start can help with these types of issues.
Are you talking about AHCI mode reverting in Windows, or is it the BIOS/UEFI settings? If it's BIOS/UEFI that keeps changing back to RST, you might want to look into whether there's any firmware update available for your laptop. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve such issues. Also, ensure you're saving the settings properly before exiting the BIOS.
It's in the BIOS/UEFI. I’ve saved the settings, but they don’t hold.
