How to Land My First Tech Job as a Young Programmer?

I'm 18 years old and currently living in Europe, working in fast food just to make ends meet. I've had a passion for computers and programming since I was 13, and I've been coding in C++ since I was 14. For the last three years, I've been diving deep into cybersecurity, networks, and DevOps, which is my ultimate goal. I dedicate at least an hour each day to studying, and on weekends I often study for over 4-5 hours. Despite some interviews, I haven't landed a job yet. I'm looking for advice on how to break into the field and make my dream a reality.

Try to find work/study programs in your area. I got my first job through a program in France, and it really helped me balance work while learning more about my field.

In Germany, you can do an apprenticeship in IT, which will let you learn while you earn. Look into something like "duales Studium" where you work and attend university at the same time—it could be a great opportunity for you!

Depending on where you are in Europe, look into apprenticeship programs. They can provide a great way to gain experience in software development or system administration while earning some money.

The job landscape varies a lot across Europe. If you can code, even just a little, you should start applying for any roles you can find—even if they don't pay much at first. Experience is key, and building a portfolio can make a big difference.

Have you considered going to college? It can really help you get the qualifications needed in tech fields and make connections in the industry.
