How to Make PDFs Open in Preview Instead of Chrome?

I'm using an M3 MacBook Air, and I want my PDFs to open in Preview by default. For some reason, Chrome keeps trying to take over that role. I prefer using Safari as my main browser, but Chrome is my backup. Is there a way to stop Chrome from opening PDFs? I want a solution that doesn't involve uninstalling Chrome.

If you're on a Mac, you can right-click a PDF file and select 'Get Info.' In the window that pops up, look for the section labeled 'Open With.' Make sure to choose 'Preview' from the dropdown, then hit 'Change All...' so that all PDF files will open in Preview by default. That should do the trick!

I found this screenshot that shows the 'Change All' option for the default app: https://macreports.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/file-info-open-with-change-all.png. Just follow those steps and you should be set!

When you right-click the PDF and go to 'Get Info,' you should see options there to set the default app. If you've already tried selecting Preview and it's still not working, it might help to right-click and make sure you’re not inadvertently selecting Chrome again. Uninstalling Chrome seems a bit extreme, but if it’s sorted out for you now, that’s great!
