Hey everyone! I've been working with AWS for a bit now and I'm comfortable using services like EC2, S3, and IAM. Recently, I tried to give my cofounder access to our AWS account so they could help with some code changes, but I got pretty overwhelmed with how complex the IAM Identity Center seems, especially just to grant simple read access to a S3 bucket. It feels like a big step backwards compared to how straightforward it was with IAM. Am I overlooking something? Is there a simpler way to handle account management for small teams like ours? I'm tempted to just share our AWS credentials via 1Password! Any advice would really help. Thanks!

A lot of early startups stick with IAM users to manage permissions across multiple accounts because it’s quick and helps validate ideas faster. Once your startup takes off, you can consider switching to IAM Identity Center, but it’s really not necessary right away. I’ve helped several startups through this phase and the transition to Identity Center can happen without any downtime. Focus your time on growth rather than getting bogged down in IAM complexity now. If you’re familiar with AWS, you can easily manage IAM Identity Center using infrastructure as code, which operates similarly to IAM.
