I've been dealing with a recurring issue in Malwarebytes that keeps detecting PUP.Optional.BrowserHijack. I quarantined 14 of these detections yesterday, and after a follow-up scan, everything appeared clean. However, just a few hours later, one detection popped up again related to a file in my Google Chrome user data. After I quarantined this new detection, it reappeared again shortly after. I'm puzzled because I have Google Sync turned off, so I'm not sure what's bringing this back. Can anyone suggest how to identify the cause and permanently eliminate this problem?

You should try clearing your Chrome browser cache and also look for any suspicious programs or extensions. A reset of Chrome might help too. But keep in mind that browser hijackers typically don’t remove themselves easily,
It might be a browser extension causing this issue. Have you checked all the extensions you have installed? Sometimes even seemingly harmless ones can trigger detections like this.
When I say 'weird programs,' I mean any software that you don’t recognize or didn’t intentionally install. You might want to check the list of installed programs on your PC too. Sometimes these hijackers hide there.
