Hey everyone! I'm looking for some guidance on the best practices for sending a corporate laptop to a new employee. Specifically, I want to know if you typically pre-configure everything on the device before sending it out, such as joining it to the domain and applying the necessary policies. Also, do you usually log in with the new user's account before shipping the laptop and send them the password details securely, perhaps through an encrypted email or another method? Just to clarify, we currently can't use Autopilot, so I'm looking for alternatives. Thanks for any tips you can share!

I suggest getting as much done locally as you can before shipping. Make sure the admin account is cached and can access the VPN. This way, when the user receives it, they can just boot up on a wired connection and you can remote in to finalize the login and switch user. It's all about making it smoother for everyone involved.
That's exactly how we do it too! We configure everything, give them a temporary password, and then walk them through a password reset over the phone once they have the laptop. It really helps them get started without any security hitches.
