How to Recover Access to a Domain Registered with Network Solutions?

I'm new to my job and I've been tasked with restoring my boss's email, which has been inactive for a few months. Turns out, the domain was registered through Network Solutions and has been paused due to non-payment. Historically, there were multiple people in my role, so it's possible that bills went unpaid. I don't have the username or password for our account, and I can't link to any information directly tied to the domain. I tried using a credit card number from a payment we made to Network Solutions this year, but they require a username and password to access the account. The recovery email and phone number are outdated, and we don't have access to them anymore. This feels absurd since we are the legitimate owners of the domain. How can I resolve this issue and impress my boss? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You should check if they have a 'proof of ownership' form you can submit. This often needs to be a notarized document sent by registered mail. This could help establish your business's legitimacy when communicating with them.

If you're looking for specific steps, check Network Solutions’ customer service page. It has detailed processes for replacing the primary contact, which might be useful for your situation!

Have you looked into doing a 'Whois' lookup on the domain? Sometimes it lists the tech or payment contact name. If you can create new email accounts for your organization, you could use that to match up with their tech contact and attempt a password reset on their site. It’s also worth asking Network Solutions if they can reinstate the domain if you make a payment. That could help get the ball rolling!

The payment idea you mentioned sounds promising. Thanks for pointing that out!

I just did that, and I'm reaching out to the contact listed on Monday. The old recovery email is on a domain that's now owned by someone else, so that complicates things.

Honestly, pressuring Network Solutions might be your best bet here. It can be frustrating, but sometimes being persistent pays off!
