I've been sharing an Apple ID with my mom for about six years, and it's become a real mess. We discovered we were linked when our camera rolls started showing each other's photos. After attempting to fix it, I ended up losing all my photos, so I just stuck with the situation for the sake of discretion in my camera roll.
Another issue is that my text messages periodically get forwarded to her, which is really frustrating because I have to walk her through disabling it every few months. I really need to break free from this shared Apple ID. What I want to know is if there's a reliable way to switch to my own Apple ID without losing my pictures, app data, contacts, messages, and games. By the way, I don't have a Mac, which may be relevant to the solution I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for any help!

You definitely want to make sure your mom's iCloud is activated first. Here’s a step-by-step you can follow:
1. On your mom's phone, create an album and move all of your personal photos there.
2. Then, create your new Apple ID on your iPhone and log in. Make sure you activate iCloud for your account too.
3. Now, share that album with your new Apple ID from her phone.
4. Finally, download the photos from that shared album onto your phone. That way, you won’t lose any pictures! Good luck!

Just a heads up, if you have a ton of photos like I do (around 40,000), it might take a while to download everything. Be patient!
