I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and set up an admin account for security, which I rarely use. Instead, I usually log in with a standard local account for everyday tasks. However, when I try to run something as an admin, the User Account Control (UAC) prompts me, but it often defaults to my standard account instead of the admin account. This is frustrating because I don't remember this happening in Windows 10. Is there any way to configure UAC so it always defaults to the admin user to save me from clicking and scrolling every time?

Just curious, is this setup for your personal use or for work? You could probably find more straightforward answers with a quick search instead of struggling with this. UAC is doing its job as intended, and there's really no setting to change that without turning it off altogether.
Wow, sounds like there are some bitter vibes around here! No need for the negativity; everyone’s just trying to figure things out!
If you want to ensure it doesn't show any default usernames, try disabling account enumeration in the registry. That way, the UAC prompt will come up blank, letting you input your admin info directly without distractions.
You might want to check your settings. If you're using Windows 11 Pro, you can find options in Group Policy that could help you manage UAC behaviors more effectively. Microsoft has documentation on the configuration options available, which could point you in the right direction. Thanks for the suggestion! This sounds like a better way to resolve the issue, and it's nice that you're not just sending me irrelevant links.
Have you considered using the new Administrator Password Protection feature in Windows 11 24H2/25H2? It was included in the latest security updates and might streamline the process for you.
That sounds interesting! I’ll definitely check it out, thanks for the tip.

I’m not looking to disable UAC completely. I just want it to default to my admin account. Right now, it’s super annoying having to navigate through the options every time.
