How to Set Up Partitions for Dual Booting Fedora with Windows 11?

Hey everyone! I'm using an Acer laptop with Windows 11 Home SL, powered by an Intel i5 11th gen processor, 16GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. I have a 256GB SSD (C:) and a 1TB HDD (D:). I'm thinking about installing Fedora 42 KDE alongside Windows 11 for dual booting. My questions are: will Fedora run smoothly on my setup? And how should I handle the partitions like EFI, root, and home? I'm also a bit concerned about Windows updates potentially messing up GRUB. Any tips on avoiding that?

Honestly, I'd advise against installing a distro on an HDD in 2025, especially if your SSD space is already tight—you're down to about 50GB. Unless you can clear some space on your SSD, it might not run optimally. You really don’t want to clutter your SSD with a dual boot setup if you can avoid it.

Don't worry too much about Windows updates messing with GRUB. It's not really a common problem unless you're sharing an EFI partition with Windows; then things can get a bit tricky. So, make sure you're careful with your partition setups!
