I'm interested in how people have gone from limited knowledge to fully customizing their Linux setups. I recently started working with Arch Linux and Hyprland, but I haven't installed any dotfiles yet, so it's a blank slate for me. I really enjoy writing my own config files, and I want to learn more about shells and scripting. Right now, I feel like I don't know what I don't know, but I'd like to move past this stage. Can anyone share how they learned to customize, any useful resources, or videos that helped you get started?

Customization can start small, like changing wallpapers and fonts, but if you're looking to dive deeper, check out resources like the "Beginners Guide to Ricing!" on YouTube for a solid overview. From there, research tools and themes specific to your desktop environment, like looking at themes for Hyprland if you're using that. Take some time to understand existing themes and how they differ to create your own too. Just remember, deep customization can be tricky, especially if you're new to Linux, so maybe consider using a VM to experiment without risking your main setup. Have fun with it!

Would you recommend switching from Hyprland to KDE Plasma for a more user-friendly experience? I'm just finding Hyprland quite barebones and not very intuitive.
