How to Switch from Intel to AMD Without Losing My Data?

I recently got a 7800x3d and a new motherboard, but I'm concerned about keeping all my data intact. My games and important files are all on one SSD. Can I just move that SSD to the new motherboard, or is there something specific I need to do, like wiping the drive?

If possible, save your essential files onto an external drive. It's mainly about your save games or any critical mods you might need. Doing a clean install of Windows might be the best way to start fresh and then reinstall everything later.

Make sure to back up your data, just in case. If you don't have a spare drive, maybe consider getting Best Buy or a tech service to help you with the installation and protect your data.

I went through this myself! After installing the new hardware, I went to Windows Update and had it reinstall while keeping my files and settings. This way, I solved a few issues, like Bluetooth not working due to driver conflicts. So, yes, you can use the same SSD without wiping it first.

You should be fine, but doing a fresh install of Windows after such a big change is usually recommended. It helps avoid driver issues down the road.
