Hey there! I'm currently working as an IT project manager with over a decade of experience. Recently, I've started learning HTML, CSS, and JavaScript just for fun, and I really enjoy it! I'm thinking about making a switch to become a full-time full stack developer. Has anyone else made a similar transition? What's the best way to land my first developer job? Also, do you think I'll have to take a pay cut even with my background in tech?

If you're enjoying learning coding, that’s awesome! Just keep in mind that turning a passion into a paycheck can sometimes spoil the fun. If you plan to monetize it, aim for jobs that excite you. That being said, some folks think transitioning to developer roles from PM makes you start at the bottom. It might be tough, but your tech background can help you find a spot in smaller companies or startups where they might value your experience.

Yep, you might need to take a pay cut when switching from project management to development since they are quite different roles. Many companies see them as distinct career paths. But if you're really into coding, you might want to consider moving into an architect role instead. Getting AWS certifications could help you leverage your PM experience while allowing you to earn a salary closer to what you’re used to. This way, you can still use your programming skills without a drastic pay drop.
