How to Update Firmware with HPE iLO 5?

I recently switched jobs from a Dell environment, where I was used to iDRAC for firmware updates – super straightforward! Now, I'm working in an HP setting, and I have no experience using iLO for firmware updates. I'd love to know if there's a similar feature in the iLO interface, along with the URL for access if possible. Thanks in advance!

You can actually use HP SUM from the HP SPP ISO to efficiently update all your servers with the baseline you need. It makes life a lot easier!

For Windows servers, I usually opt for the online updates instead. You can find it at [this link](https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/softwaredetails?language=en_US&collectionId=MTX-8384f9a8878649da&tab=releaseNotes&softwareId=MTX_05164de4e54a4ae596c8bad98b). It's quite handy!

You can update some firmware through iLO, but HPE has an ISO image that contains all the updates for specific model lines. Booting from that image updates everything in one go, which is really simple.

Don’t forget about HPE Greenlake! It can manage updates now, and it’s becoming standard for new purchases.

Honestly, Dell is way ahead in this regard. While HPEs use SPPs for updates, it’s not nearly as seamless as Dell's iDRAC firmware update tool. If you're managing many HPE devices, consider consulting a local VAR who specializes in HPE for assistance.

What you want is the HPE Service Pack for ProLiant. You can download it, then use HP SUM from your own computer. Connect it to the servers via iLO to pull the necessary data and install firmware or drivers. Check it out [here](https://support.hpe.com/docs/display/public/a00sppdocen_US/spp#/).
