While building my PC, I accidentally dropped a screwdriver on my CPU, leaving a small dent on the top side (opposite the pins). I'm curious if this could cause any issues down the line.

The good news is that your PC boots up fine! You mentioned your idle temperatures are normal, around 42-46 degrees Celsius, which is a good sign. Just keep an eye on it once you start gaming. If the cooling is stable, you should be fine.
If only the IHS is dented and no pins are bent, you’re likely in the clear. You could consider applying a bit more thermal paste on that dent when you install your cooler to ensure it makes good contact.
Even if the dent affects thermal transfer slightly, most decent coolers can handle that. Just make sure it’s not severe enough to touch the actual chip. If it works now, it should continue to do so unless the dent is a real hazard.
Don't fret too much! If your system works fine now, it should continue to do so for the CPU's lifespan. Watch out for temp spikes, but it sounds manageable.
It seems like you dented the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS), which helps distribute heat from the CPU die. This might affect how the thermal paste makes contact in that spot, possibly leading to higher temperatures later on.
