I shared my original writing with ChatGPT – should I be worried about privacy?

A few months ago, I was sick with the flu and ended up writing a book, which is one of my hobbies. I enjoyed getting real-time feedback while feeling like I was writing just for myself, so I started pasting chapters into ChatGPT for proofreading and feedback. I remember having some privacy concerns back then, but I can't recall the specifics. Recently, I learned that the training model feature was turned on in ChatGPT, even though I never activated that setting. Has there been a change in the names of features, or an update that I missed? I've noticed some features being referred to differently now. I've since turned off that setting, deleted my chats, and contacted support asking them to erase my data from their servers. They mentioned that the AI pulls from multiple sources and shouldn't remember specific details. Can anyone offer me some reassurance about this situation? Am I right to be concerned about my original work potentially being leaked or used inappropriately?

Honestly, I wouldn’t stress too much about your work. With so much data flowing in and out, the likelihood that your original writing is going to be reproduced exactly as you provided it is incredibly low. Your input is just one tiny drop in an ocean of data that it analyzes.
