Recently, I upgraded my graphics card from an NVIDIA GTX 1650 to an RX 7600, but I'm not noticing a significant improvement in performance. My boyfriend has a better setup and can play competitive games smoothly, while I'm stuck at around 200 fps, which feels choppy. We both have 144Hz monitors, and I've heard that switching from HDMI to DisplayPort might help. I've also ordered a new CPU, upgrading from an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5800X because I thought that could be part of the issue. I'm unsure where the problem lies, though. Any advice?

Upgrading your CPU should help stabilize your frame rates and possibly eliminate some of that choppiness. Competitive games often run better with the frame rate locked at 143 fps, just below your monitor's maximum refresh rate, to avoid stuttering. Also, check if your monitor has a FreeSync option and make sure it's enabled. FreeSync helps synchronize your monitor's refresh rate with your FPS, reducing choppiness during gameplay.
It sounds like you might be dealing with a driver issue. Make sure you uninstalled the old NVIDIA drivers before switching to the new GPU. If those were still installed, they might be causing conflicts.
I did a factory reset before installing the new video card, so I think all the previous drivers were removed.

I tried locking my FPS to 143, but I still can’t feel any improvement in gameplay smoothness.
