Hey everyone! I'm in a tough spot with my Toshiba Satellite laptop and could really use some help. I have two passwords: one for booting the computer and another for logging into the Linux Ubuntu Mate OS. I was trying to reset the second password in GRUB, but right in the middle of it, GRUB shut down unexpectedly. I only got part of the command typed before the computer rebooted, and now I can't even get to the BIOS or back into GRUB. When I enter my first password to unlock the computer, it just freezes every time. I can't access the terminal or reinstall the OS from a flash drive either. Is there anything I can try to resolve this, or do I need to get it fixed by a professional?

This might be a long shot, but you could try taking out the CMOS battery for about 20 minutes to reset the BIOS. Put it back in and see if you can boot up then. If it works, maybe just use one password moving forward to avoid this mess again.
Just a heads-up: that trick used to work a long time ago, but more recent laptops may not respond to it.
Right after you power on the laptop, start tapping F2. Sometimes that can help you get into the BIOS menu. Have you tried that yet?
I haven't seen any response from F2. I'll look into other options!
Have you tried removing the hard drive to see if the laptop can start up without it? It's usually not too complicated on a laptop, just some screws to take out. By doing that, you might be able to access the BIOS if the issue is with the hard drive rather than the entire machine. Let me know if that works!
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely give that a shot.
Sure, I’ll give that a try just in case!
