I’m New to Programming – Can Someone Help Me Understand Developer Roles?

Hey everyone! I'm just getting started in programming and have only learned Python during my summer break. Now I want to get an internship, but I'm really confused about the different types of developer roles like full stack developer, front end developer, Python developer, Java developer, etc. I tried to look them up, but there's so much jargon that I don't get. Right now, I'm also learning C# and exploring Unity and Blender because I love games and want to create one. I really need some guidance on how to get started with this internship thing. Any advice?

Honestly, the fields you mentioned are pretty vast and they cover a lot over what you’d typically learn in a full computer science program. Just start with what you enjoy. Since you're learning C#, maybe create simple games or applications with it as practice. Trust me, take it easy and build up your skills gradually!

I’d love to see what you make! Any tips on where to find project ideas?

First off, take a deep breath! You're trying to learn a ton all at once. It’s better to start small. Don’t stress about being a full stack developer just yet—focus on foundational skills first. A good idea is to work on simple projects like small GUI applications to apply what you learn as you go along.

Got it! How do I even begin on those small projects?

Yeah, that's solid advice! Just take it one step at a time.

If you don’t understand what it means to be a 'Python developer' after learning Python, it may feel a bit overwhelming. Focus on what you know, and build from there. Don’t give up! There's plenty of resources to help you get familiar with the different roles if you take it one at a time.
