Improving Battery Life and Performance on Linux for My Laptop

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to Linux, having used it for about two months on my main desktop. I recently installed it on my laptop, but I'm facing some issues. First off, the battery life on Linux is noticeably worse than expected—I'm looking for tips to extend the battery life beyond just using power-saving mode. On top of that, I want to get better performance from my laptop (which has an Intel Core i9 185H and Intel Arc integrated graphics with 32GB of RAM). Even with performance mode activated, it's struggling, as it lagged while I was on the Brawlhalla menu. I've noticed that my CPU governor is defaulting to 'powersaving' every time I restart, and changing it manually doesn't seem to help much. Any advice on optimizing performance while also managing battery life?

It sounds like you're using a pretty demanding setup on your laptop, and it’s common to experience some performance drops on Linux, especially with graphics. Have you checked what desktop environment you’re using? Some are more resource-intensive than others. You might want to try a lighter environment if performance is a priority. Also, make sure you've installed the latest drivers for your Intel graphics, as that can sometimes resolve performance issues.

I'm using Hyprland with Cealestia, which I think is pretty light, but you're right about drivers! I’ll give that a shot!
