Intermittent Display Issues with My ABS System

I've had my ABS Ruby Kaze for about a year now, and I've run into several frustrating issues. It takes 30-40 seconds to boot up before I even see an image, whether BIOS or Windows. When I open new task windows, I sometimes get blacked-out windows, but they're barely noticeable. I originally thought this might just be an AMD system quirk.

Lately, I've been having trouble when the PC comes out of sleep mode, which I went back and forth with tech support about. They told me I'd have to ship my PC across the country for repairs, which wasn't ideal. I've tried reseating the video card and CMOS battery, flashing the BIOS, and even had a coworker reinstall the video card. After some wiggling of the power and connection cables, it seemed to help, mostly.

However, I'm still having black artifacting issues specifically when loading Cyberpunk. I ran Furmark, AIDA 64, and 3D Mark with no problems, and other games seem to run fine. My graphics card is a Gigabyte RTX 4070.

My biggest fear is that these issues will come back right after the warranty expires. That's why I'm pushing hard to resolve everything ASAP!

That sounds really frustrating! The slow boot time could be a sign that the BIOS is taking longer to initialize the devices or possibly a drive issue. One thing you could try is disabling 'fast boot' in both the BIOS and Windows settings; that sometimes helps with boot hangs. Also, make sure your GPU power cables are secured—loose connections can definitely cause the black screen problems you’re experiencing.

As for the artifacting in Cyberpunk, it might be a VRAM issue rather than a GPU failure. Try doing a clean driver reinstall using DDU in safe mode and then get the latest drivers from NVIDIA. If everything else checks out fine in stress tests, your card is likely okay, and it’s just an issue with the connection or drivers.

I tried different cables and even swapped monitors, thinking it was a TV issue, but that didn't help.

I also messed with fast boot settings, and the real fix for my slow boot was updating the motherboard BIOS. Still, I'm unnerved by the black screen issues that didn't return after I packed it up.

I had a similar experience. My coworker updated the motherboard BIOS, which fixed my slow boot problems, but when I brought it home, the display was completely dead. Just when I planned to send it back under warranty, I checked the cables one last time, and it booted up! It's wild how these things can behave inconsistently.

If it acts up again, try discharging the system: unplug the PSU, hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, then reconnect everything. Also, check the seating of your GPU and RAM; even a small misalignment can cause these weird issues.

Yeah, that kind of behavior is really odd. I agree that sometimes just unplugging it and reseating things can make a difference. It's like it resets itself.
