iPhone 15 Plus Won’t Charge After Screen Replacement – Any Ideas?

Hey everyone! I just replaced the screen on my iPhone 15 Plus with an original part while keeping the old proximity sensor. Now, it's showing an 'unknown battery' message and won't charge above 1%. It keeps rebooting every few minutes, and although I hear the charging sound when I plug it in, the lock screen shows 0% battery. I'm wondering if isopropanol might have contacted the charging port during the repair. There's a chance it was turned on accidentally when I was working on it, too. I've already re-seated the battery connector, but it still reboots even with the battery disconnected. Other than the battery and screen issues, everything seems fine, with no error messages except for the unknown battery and previously an unknown back glass, which has since disappeared. I need at least 20% battery to finish the repair and download the latest iOS version, but it keeps rebooting. I'm currently on iOS 18.3.1 or 18.3.2. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I doubt it’s a logic board issue since there aren't any caps on the backside of the motherboard where you're connecting the display and proximity sensor. But definitely check the panic log to find out what's going on. Good luck!

It sounds like there might be damage to the logic board around one of the connectors. When doing repairs, it's pretty easy to dislodge a cap, which could cause these issues. You might want to check the panic log for more details, but it seems likely that this is some kind of logic board damage, especially since the timing of the reboot aligns with a kernel panic.
