About a month ago, I asked for advice on which Linux distribution to choose, and I've finally made the switch! Now that I have Linux Mint installed, I'm checking out the system usage stats. I noticed that it's showing 1.2 GiB of RAM being used, but I thought it would be less. Am I missing something here? Shouldn't it use less RAM? Any insights would be appreciated!

It's pretty normal to see higher RAM usage, depending on the desktop environment you chose. Linux isn't like Windows; it's designed to use resources efficiently. If you have enough RAM, unused RAM is considered wasted, so the system keeps data in memory for quick access later. Don't stress about it too much!
I thought Linux would only use around 700 MB, so it's a bit confusing. Thanks for clarifying!
