Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my gaming rig to include an RTX 5070 Ti paired with a Ryzen 7 7800x3d. I've been gaming on a 24.5" 240Hz 1080p monitor, but I'm considering making the jump to 1440p. My concern is that I prefer smaller monitors because they make it easier for me to see HUD elements in games. I also discovered the DL DSR feature in the Nvidia Control Panel that offers some sharpness improvements at 2.25x upscaling.
For those experienced with different resolutions, do you think sticking with 1080p and DL DSR is sufficient, or could I really benefit from upgrading? I want to ensure I'm fully utilizing my GPU's power without missing out on too much. I've heard mixed opinions, and I'd love to understand what might be best for my gaming experience!

Whether to upgrade to 1440p really depends on what you're looking for. Your setup can easily handle 1440p, and many people with a similar build opt for it. The benefits of a sharper image become more apparent when you're gaming at higher resolutions. However, if you're happy with your current setup, staying at 1080p is totally fine too. Just remember that 2.25x upscaling can improve sharpness, but it’s not the same as actually increasing the pixel count. Moving from a 24" 1080p to a 27" 1440p might not show a dramatic difference in sharpness either due to pixel density limitations. Sometimes the perception of sharper visuals comes from familiarity with the 1080p experience too!
Yeah, I get what you mean about finding a smaller monitor. It’s tough when aiming for higher refresh rates at smaller sizes, especially with 1440p. Testing monitors in person is a good idea if possible; you'll have a better sense of what feels right for you.

For sure! The 1440p genre doesn't have as many 24" options, so it makes sense you're being picky about what to choose. Sometimes, having a great, well-reviewed 27" is better than settling for specs that seem off.
