Hey folks! I'm considering getting a yearly mobile data plan with 150GB total for $300 CAD. As a high school student, I'm wondering if that data allowance will be sufficient. I have a bus commute of about 30-45 minutes round-trip, and I might scroll through a couple of video reels on the way, but I'm not a heavy user. Most of my data will be consumed when I'm not near Wi-Fi, which I have access to both at home and school. On weekends, I might use a bit more data for browsing and social media, but it's still pretty minimal. I'm planning to save around 30-45GB for summer trips where I'll be using my phone more frequently. Has anyone had a similar experience with this amount of data? Any tips would be much appreciated!

Honestly, 10GB per month might be a bit tight if you plan on scrolling reels. Using just the reels could consume around 150MB for a half-hour, which adds up. You might want to keep an eye on your phone's data usage to see how quickly it goes. It could work, but it's best to track it.
It depends on how much you utilize your Wi-Fi at home and school! My kids hardly use data since they're usually connected to Wi-Fi. You can download shows and music at home to save data for when you're out. If you're planning on just light usage, 10GB could work, but it's always good to have a backup plan in case you need more.
I have Wi-Fi at both places, which helps a lot. I’ll just use data sparingly for when I’m out.
I stream a lot at work and used a 30GB plan. I typically hit the halfway mark just in a couple of days! You might want to consider getting a plan with more data, or at least one that allows you to pay for extra if needed, especially since you'll be using it during summer travels.
Good point! I'll keep that in mind when making my decision.
If you’re not overly reliant on data, 10GB per month can actually work if managed right! Just be mindful of your habits and you should be okay. Sometimes I even finish a month under my limit, depending on how much time I spend connected to Wi-Fi.
That’s reassuring! I’d just need to keep tabs on my use to ensure I stick to my limits.
Have you checked if upgrading your plan mid-year is an option? If you find you’re running low, you could easily add more data. Your plan has a reasonable amount, so it might be enough, but be prepared just in case.
Yes! Upgrading seems easy, and I'll plan out how much I might need.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll definitely monitor my usage closely to avoid surprises.
