I've got an RTX 3080 with 10GB of VRAM, and I'm currently gaming at 1080p, but I've been using DSR to render at 1440p internally. Performance has been great, especially in games like Cyberpunk and RDR2, even with my CPU holding things back a bit. However, I'm considering upgrading to a 1440p monitor since 1080p looks grainy on my display. My main concern is whether the 10GB VRAM will be sufficient for future AAA games at high or ultra settings at 1440p. Do any of you guys have experience with the 3080's performance at this resolution? How long can I expect it to hold up?

Honestly, it's about the games you play. Some modern games do push past 10GB, but most older and many new releases should be fine. Just dive into 1440p gaming and see how it goes! You might be surprised at the experience!
Totally! Not every game will push VRAM to the limit. It's going to depend on optimization too.
Yes, you might want to keep an eye on VRAM if you plan to play advanced AAA titles. While the 3080 should still last you a good few years, don’t hesitate to drop texture settings when required. For indie games, expect it to last an easy 6 to 7 years!
For ultra settings at 1440p? You might want to lower a few things, especially with newer titles that are already testing the limits of 10GB VRAM. I've noticed some games pushing my system a bit, so keep that in mind.
Yeah, 10GB might not cut it in the very near future without DLSS. I've had to adjust settings in some recent titles.
As a 3080 10GB owner, my experience has mostly been positive, but certain games are definitely VRAM heavy. Adjusting settings has become the norm for me.
You should be fine! I was playing lots of games on a 3070 at 1440p without any issues. I've even got by with a GTX 1080! So, a 3080 is more than capable for now.
Hardware Unboxed did a comparison showing how VRAM matters in different games. As it turns out, some titles do noticeably better with extra VRAM, but there's still a decent chance you'll manage with 10GB for a while.
I've been running my GTX 1080 at 1440p, and it’s only started to struggle in the last year. It's a solid card!
It really depends on the game. If developers keep pushing for higher requirements with engines like UE5, you might hit a wall down the line, especially with big AAA blockbusters. I'd suggest playing on medium settings to be safe. As of now, your GPU should still perform pretty well.
Totally agree! A lot of games will run just fine. Just keep an eye out for upcoming heavy hitters.
I've been on 1440p with my 3080 10GB for a few years now, and while there are some exceptions where I had to lower settings, overall, I'm still good as long as I'm not cranking everything to max!
I just switched to 1440p with my 3080, and I’ve found it’s handling fine so far, even if it’s not always at max settings.
