Is 12GB VRAM Enough for Future Gaming at 1440p?

Hey everyone! I'm considering getting an AMD 9070 graphics card, but I've seen mixed feedback online. My cousin has a 9060XT with some weird bugs, like a screen cut in half and other issues. I'm also concerned about potential problems with the 12V connector melting on the 5070, so I want a reliable PSU too. My main question is: Will I be able to enjoy AAA games at low to medium settings on 1440p a few years down the line with 12GB of VRAM? I don't plan on upgrading for quite a while, so I'm hoping this setup will last.

For sure! A lot of the complaints on AMD forums come from people who probably received faulty cards and should just RMA them. If you install the drivers properly using DDU in safe mode, and make sure your GPU is seated correctly, you should be golden. There are a few specific game issues AMD is working on fixing too, so don’t let the negativity worry you too much.

It's tough to say for sure, but you might be good! I'm running fine at 1440p with my 3080 and even playing on low settings. Most games, like BF6, don’t really push past 8GB. A buddy mentioned that he’s hitting the 12GB cap with certain settings on a 5070, but it depends on your preferences.

I'm okay with dialing down the settings! Just came from a 1660 where I had to play everything on low, so I can handle it. Plus, I also have a 1080p 60Hz monitor that might still be useful a few years down the road.
