Is 16GB RAM Enough for My New PC Build?

I'm currently building a PC and I mistakenly purchased 16GB of Crucial DDR4 RAM. I've heard mixed opinions; some say that modern games require 32GB, while others argue that 16GB is sufficient. I also came across warnings about mixing RAM brands, as I might have to combine my 16GB stick with another brand in the future. Since I got the first RAM from Facebook and can't return it, I'm looking for advice on what to do. Should I stick with 16GB for now?

Most games run decently on 16GB these days, but it's true that for multitasking, you may find it lacking. Once RAM prices drop, upgrading to 32GB would be a good idea. For now, keep background apps closed while gaming—it's usually fine unless you have tons of stuff running. Just check game requirements to confirm you're good to go!

Thanks for the tip! I'll keep an eye on the RAM prices and consider an upgrade later if necessary.

You'll be fine with 16GB for most games. Sure, if you're playing something like Star Citizen, you might struggle, but for the average title, 16GB should handle it. Mixing brands can be tricky, but if you check the compatibility and timings, it might not be a big issue. Just keep your eye on the specs when you decide to upgrade. Honestly, if you're worried, consider selling your RAM and investing in a matched 2x16GB kit later on. It's just a safer bet!

Yeah, matching them helps a lot, but don't stress too much right now. Just use what you've got until you really hit a wall!

Honestly, it depends on the games you want to play. Games like Hogwarts can be demanding with 16GB, but most will run fine, especially if you lower the settings a bit. Mixing brands usually works as long as their specifications are similar. Check your timings and you'll probably be fine!

True! I managed to mix RAM brands and didn't notice major issues, just a bit of testing with settings before I found the sweet spot.
