I recently built a new PC featuring an RTX 5080 and a 7800X3D processor, specifically for my 1440p monitor. The performance has been incredible, especially with games like Cyberpunk running with path tracing at impressive frame rates. However, I'm concerned about the future. I've heard mixed opinions about 16GB of VRAM, especially seeing others with cards boasting 20GB or more. While testing, I noticed that in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, my VRAM usage spiked to around 15.5GB at native 1440p, which raised some alarm. I'm curious: will 16GB suffice for gaming at 1440p over the next three years? Is Kingdom Come just an outlier, or does it have issues that may affect my VRAM usage? Ultimately, did I make a mistake with this build, or am I good for the foreseeable future?

You'll likely be fine for at least five years! Although intensive games may push your VRAM usage higher, 16GB will cover you for most titles. Just keep in mind that some demanding games may need settings adjustments, especially with heavy path tracing.
Totally agree! More and more gamers are moving to 1440p simply because it offers a great balance of performance and visuals. If a game can't run well on a 5080, it will likely be a problematic title for many with lower specs. So, logically speaking, it sounds like you're going to be just fine!
I really don't think you need to worry much! Games like the 4080 are still performing well even after a few years in the market. 16GB should be more than enough for most games coming out. You can always adjust your settings if necessary, and things like upscaling help a lot too.
Honestly, if you're aiming for longevity with your GPU, it might be worth considering one with more than 16GB in the future. But given your current build, you'll definitely be okay for a couple of years. Just stay mindful of VRAM usage in specific games!
Yeah, I get that! But I think 3 years is a reasonable timeframe for a GPU upgrade, right? I already have the 5080 now, just trying to gauge if I made a solid choice or not.
