I'm currently using an AMD AM4 setup and I'm considering upgrading to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D for $275. Given the current DDR5 RAM prices, I'm hesitant about fully transitioning to AM5 right now. I still have 16GB of DDR4 RAM, so I want to know if getting the 5700X3D is a smart move for maximizing my current platform.

In today's market, $275 is a pretty good price for the 5700X3D! If you're looking to stick with AM4 longer, this CPU is definitely a solid option for your upgrade path.

It really depends on what you currently have in your setup. If you're coming from a Ryzen 5 2600X, then the 5700X3D is definitely a nice upgrade. However, if you already own something like a 5600X, it might not be worth the investment unless you're playing competitively at 1080p and need those high frame rates.

To add to that, while $275 is a decent deal since most 5700X3Ds are priced around $350, consider that you could also use that budget to boost your system in other ways. You could grab a second 16GB DDR4 kit for about $110 and find a Ryzen 7 5800X for roughly $180, especially if you catch it on sale. That could give you a more balanced setup.

For $275, you might want to think about your options. Used Ryzen 5 5700Xs and 5800Xs can be found for around $100, which makes the 5700X3D seem a bit pricier, especially since you could use that money for doubling your RAM with a decent 5000-series CPU instead.

You could even score a brand-new 5600X with a warranty for a similar price. Just something to think about!

Just throwing it out there - many of the 5700X3Ds I see are listed for $350 or more, so it might vary by where you shop. Still, $275 is definitely on the lower side.

Honestly, I think it’s overpriced. I managed to buy one on Aliexpress for about $120 just six months ago, so keep an eye out for better deals!
