I'm in the process of building a setup with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and considering using a good motherboard, like the X870 or X870E Tomahawk. I'm looking at two RAM options right now: Corsair Vengeance 2x48GB 6000 CL30, which I've heard is great for AM5, and T-Force Expert T-Create 2x48GB 6400 CL32. I really like the T-Force RAM, but I'm concerned about whether using 6400MHz is too high for this CPU. If I need to manually set the RAM speed to 6000 from 6400, will that affect performance compared to RAM that comes factory-set at 6000? Also, I'm aiming for 128GB, but high-capacity sticks like 64GB are scarce and pricey in my area, often with higher latency ratings like CL40 or CL42. I'd appreciate any insights! Thanks!

If you use RAM above 6000 MT/s, you might face some internal clock speed limitations, possibly forcing them to run at half rate. That said, many people can manage to run these RAM types at a 1:1 ratio using manual settings, but it's not a guaranteed outcome. If you're fine with the work, you could just downclock the 6400 to 6000 MT/s easily.
Using RAM over 6000MHz isn't necessarily bad for your CPU, but it may mean you'll need to do some manual tweaking to get it stable. Adjusting it down to 6000MT/s can be an easy way to ensure compatibility, although some may find it takes a bit of trial and error. Just keep in mind, tuning can vary in how much time it takes depending on your luck!

Exactly, I hear you! Achieving that 1:1 ratio is key. Have you tried downclocking? I've found it stable but it takes some patience.
