I'm trying to figure out if $74K is a typical price for an HPE Proliant Server DL380 Gen11. Here are the specs: 1 Intel Xeon 4514Y 16 Core, 8 x 32GB DDR-5 RAM, and 50TB usable disk space. Is this cost reasonable?

That price seems pretty high, especially if a lot of that cost is coming from the storage. If the 50TB is all-flash (like NVMe), then I can understand the price tag, since flash storage can get really expensive.

It might be a retail price without discounts from a VAR. You could potentially get it cheaper.

Yeah, seems like you're looking at list pricing for sure.

To give you some perspective, I recently got a quote for eight SuperMicros with comparable specs and larger storage for $606K. So no way would I pay $74K for just one server!

I wouldn't buy that much storage from HP. Looking at refurbished options could save you a ton—like you can often get 3-year off-lease setups for much cheaper. Just saying!

Definitely, two well-stressed refurbished servers can be way more economical and reliable than a single new one.

Honestly, $74K feels like a retail price to me, especially considering the 50TB storage. You might want to shop around and see if you can get a better deal elsewhere.

You could get a much better price by not buying direct and finding a partner to quote for you.

Isn't that shocking? You’re basically paying SAN prices with all that storage.

For real, without the storage, that setup is probably worth $5K max. If it's costing you more than that, you should reconsider what's in there.
