Hey everyone! My trusty 7800XT just gave up on me, and unfortunately, my monitor broke right around the same time. I decided to upgrade to a 1440P monitor, but now I'm on a tight budget and can only afford an 8 GB 5060TI. I'm wondering if this will provide a decent experience for gaming at that resolution. I typically play older games like War Thunder, but I also plan to try out STALKER 2 and ARK:ASA. Will 8 GB be enough for my setup?

Honestly, if you go for 8GB, you'd probably benefit more from the RX9060XT since it has better PCIe lane support. In general, 8GB might not perform as well at 1440P compared to your old 7800XT, especially if the VRAM gets maxed out.
You might regret it in the long run. If you can, save up more or look for used options. Consider some Intel cards as well, just to broaden your options.
For older games and online titles, 8GB should suffice, but for most single-player titles released recently, you’ll want at least 12GB to expect a smooth experience. Just keep that in mind!
I played on an 8GB card at 1440P until recently. I had a few issues here and there, mainly needing to lower textures on some games, but overall, it was totally manageable. Newer titles might challenge that, but older games should still be fun!
Really, it comes down to the games you plan to play. For AAA titles, 8GB might struggle. If you don’t mind adjusting settings, you should be okay with older games or even some newer ones, but I wouldn’t rely only on it for too long.
For long-term use, 8 GB might not cut it. But if you're okay with dialing down some settings like textures, you should manage just fine for now. Have you checked how much a RX9060XT with 16GB costs around your area? That could be worth considering!
If your 7800XT is still under warranty, definitely see if you can get it repaired or replaced. For some games, 8GB can still work at 1440P, but STALKER 2 will likely need more VRAM, so be prepared to lower settings.
Definitely a tricky situation. If you want the best experience at 1440P, you might want to aim for a card with at least 12GB VRAM. It's hard to say if you'll enjoy newer games with just 8GB.
In short, 8GB might barely do the job today, but if you’re looking for longevity, it’s not enough for future titles. I'd say aim for 12GB or better if you're serious about gaming!
I had a GTX 1080 with 8GB for 1440P and it performed decently, just not at ultra settings. You should be alright for a while, just keep that in mind when choosing your settings for newer games!

The prices are pretty close, but I've stuck with AMD since the early days. That said, I've heard some mixed reviews about the RDNA 4, so I'm wary.
