Is $800 a Normal Price for a MacBook Pro Screen Repair?

I recently had my laptop crash while I'm in the final week of uni, and it's been super stressful trying to wrap up my assignments. I noticed the bottom half of my laptop screen was glitching but thought it was still usable. I tried using an external monitor, but it went black after a few minutes too, and eventually, the laptop wouldn't turn on at all, even though the keyboard responded for a bit. I took it to a recommended repair shop, and they told me I needed a full screen replacement, charging me $766 NZD for it. Is that a reasonable price for a 2020 MacBook Pro screen repair?

If you actually broke the screen, that price is less than what I would have expected.

The 2020 MacBook Pro has a few different screen sizes. It would have been helpful to mention the size to assess if the cost is reasonable. Assuming you got a good quality screen, $766 NZD (about $434 USD) seems like a fair price. For example, iFixit sells a 13" display assembly for around $470, but you’d need tools and some know-how to replace it yourself.

I don’t think any 2020 MacBooks other than the 13 inch were released, so you might be right! The last 16 inch Intel model was the 2019 version.

Sorry, I missed mentioning it; it's actually a 13 inch.
