Is 850W Power Supply Enough for My Build?

I'm building a PC with some pretty powerful components, including an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, a quality motherboard, and a GeForce RTX 5080 GPU. I was wondering if an 850W power supply is sufficient for this setup. A tool I used suggested upgrading to 1000W. I ordered all my parts already, so I'm in a position to switch out the power supply if needed before it arrives. What do you all think?

I think you should be fine with 850W. It's enough for what you have unless you're planning to really push the limits. But remember, it may be wise to consider a 1000W PSU if you're looking to upgrade or overclock seriously in the future — sometimes the price difference isn’t huge compared to the peace of mind!

Honestly, stick with the 850W if it’s a reputable brand. Most users don’t need to go above that unless they want to overclock or add more GPUs. Just keep an eye on temps and load during gaming to ensure stability.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely keep an eye on it once I have everything set up. Appreciate the tips!

Your PSU choice is solid for your current build. An 850W is generally adequate, especially if you're not planning on extreme overclocking. If you think you might upgrade down the line or get into hardcore overclocking, then a 1000W would give you some breathing room. But honestly, for now, you should be good! Just make sure the brand is reliable.

Totally agree! Quality matters way more than just wattage. If it’s a good unit, stick with it!

Just a heads up, I’ve heard some issues with Asrock motherboards in conjunction with the Ryzen 9000 series. You might wanna keep an eye on that, but overall your PSU should perform well with the 850W. If you encounter any problems, then maybe consider a more powerful PSU.

I've bought similar parts recently and it is true, RAM prices are insane right now! I would lean towards 1000W to be safe if the cost isn’t too significant. It’s just a small price for greater reliability, especially for a high-end build like yours!
