I'm putting together a gaming PC and I'm wondering if an 850W power supply is overkill for my setup. Here are the specs: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 cooler, B850 Tomahawk motherboard, 32GB of CL30 RAM, two M.2 drives (2TB and 1TB), and a 5070 Ti graphics card. Is this wattage excessive?

It's definitely not overkill. While you could get by with a 750W unit, the 850W gives you an extra cushion. Plus, if you decide to upgrade to a 5080 later, you won’t need to swap out your PSU.

Not at all! An 850W PSU is actually a great choice for your build. You're well within the safe range, and it'll provide plenty of headroom for any future upgrades.
