Is 8GB of VRAM Enough or Should I Choose 12GB for My New GPU?

I'm in the market for a new graphics card and can't decide between the 5060 with 8GB of VRAM or the 3060 with 12GB of VRAM. Both options are priced similarly, but I'm wondering which one would be the better choice for my setup. If you have any suggestions for other graphics cards in a similar price range, I'd love to hear them too! Additionally, I need to upgrade my power supply to support the new GPU. Here are my current specs:

- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz
- Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H510M-K
- RAM: 16GB DDR4/3200MHz
- Storage: 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD
- Current GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X (8GB GDDR5)
- Power Supply: InWin A45 450W

While the 5060 has a faster core, 8GB VRAM is becoming limited for modern games. Spending a little extra on the RX 9060XT with 16GB could give you much better longevity. Don't forget to upgrade your PSU too! A decent 650 or 750W should suffice.

Consider going for the AMD 9060XT with 16GB for around $350. The 5060 has limitations with PCIE 3.0 boards like yours, and the 3060 is starting to feel old after five years. Just a thought!

If you play competitive games that aren't overly demanding, the 5060 should be fine. But for newer AAA titles, the 8GB VRAM might fall short. The 9060XT 16GB is pricier but worth it in performance.

That’s good to know! I want to future-proof my setup a bit.

If you're considering options, remember that any GPU with only 8GB of VRAM may feel outdated in a couple of years. It might not be a great idea to invest in it now, especially for gaming.
