I'm planning to build a new AM5 setup and I can grab some decent RAM locally. I'm thinking about the 7600X3D, as its extra L3 cache will help with the games I play. But I'm wondering if 8GB of VRAM will be sufficient for gaming in 2026. I've heard that it might not be enough, but I mostly play games like Marvel Rivals, Overwatch 2, Madden, and Valorant, rather than demanding AAA titles. My current setup with a Ryzen 5800X and RX 6800 is starting to struggle, especially with Marvel Rivals, where I have to use FSR and low settings just to hit around 150 FPS with frame dips. I already have a 1080p 240Hz monitor, so will 8GB of VRAM hold up for me?

8GB should be enough for 1080p unless you're pushing max settings in super demanding games. You should be fine for most esports titles though!
It's only about 4% faster than the RX 6800, so I'd say the upgrade isn't worth it just yet.
Sounds like sticking with your current GPU or considering a jump to a 9070 makes more sense.
If you're looking to upgrade, aim for at least a 9070 or above. The 6800 is still a good card; I'd suggest waiting for another generation if you can.
Honestly, focus on upgrading the CPU first. Your 5800X is likely bottlenecking your current GPU at 1080p. The 9060 XT doesn't offer a huge improvement over the 6800 for raster performance anyway.
Maybe I should look into the 5800X3D then, but I've heard the prices are pretty high.
Yeah, especially since the 5700X 3D or 5800X 3D is going for over $300 used now that they're out of production.

But with current trends, why take the risk? 8GB might not last if you really plan to keep up with newer titles.
