Is 8GB VRAM Enough for Long-Term 1080p Gaming?

I'm planning to upgrade my GPU from my trusty GTX 1050 Ti but I'm on a bit of a budget, with $400 as my upper limit. I want to make sure whatever I choose can hold up for the next few years, especially since I'm sticking to 1080p gaming for now. I'm considering the B580 and RTX 5060, but I'm wondering if 8GB of VRAM is sufficient for future games or if I should aim for something with more VRAM. Thoughts?

Honestly, 8GB of VRAM will handle most games perfectly fine at 1080p. It may require you to lower some graphics settings for the latest AAA titles, but for popular games like Fortnite or League of Legends, you’ll be totally fine! I’d lean towards the B580 if you see it around its MSRP, it’s a solid option without breaking the bank.

It really depends on what games you're playing. For some newer AAA games, 8GB might be a stretch, and you'll have to adjust settings down a notch for optimal performance. If you’re strictly sticking with competitive esports titles, 8GB should have you covered nicely.

Just went from a GTX 1060 to an RTX 5060 Ti, and I can't wait for my new card! Heard it runs like a dream at 1080p, fingers crossed for a smooth upgrade!

8GB VRAM should be fine for a while, especially at 1080p. In my experience, even at 1440p, I rarely hit 8GB. If you're willing to tinker a bit, the B580 with 12GB VRAM could definitely keep your setup more relevant for the longer term, though!
