Is a 2070 Super enough for a 5800X3D setup?

Hey everyone! I'm new to building PCs, and it's been tough figuring out the performance of different components. I've heard that the 5800X3D is currently one of the best CPUs for gaming, so I'm planning to pair it with a B550 Tomahawk motherboard and 64GB of DDR4 RAM that I found on eBay. My main question is whether my 2070 Super GPU is sufficient for this setup, especially since I primarily play Counter-Strike and other games that focus on high FPS and smooth gameplay rather than graphics quality.

While the 9800X3D is touted as the best gaming CPU now, the 5800X3D is still really solid. It performs similarly to the Ryzen 5 7600X. If you choose the 5800X3D, you won't have upgrade options later since it's designed for older motherboard slots. Your 2070 Super is still a decent GPU, so it should work well for your games.

No need to stress too much about bottlenecks! The 5800X3D is an excellent CPU that can definitely handle faster GPUs than the 2070 Super. This means you can always upgrade your GPU later without changing the CPU.

Thanks for the insight! I’m also considering a 5700X3D nearby. Is that significantly worse than the 5800X3D?

When it comes to GPU bottlenecks, you should really focus on whether it plays your games well at your desired resolution. The 2070 Super runs CS perfectly fine!
