I recently ordered a PSU that was advertised as 500W, but I received a 250W one instead. I'm considering getting an RX 550 for my setup. Can anyone help me out quickly with whether this PSU will be sufficient for my Intel Core i5-6500 and RX 550?

Totally get your frustration! Just to clarify, 250W can run your setup under normal conditions, but it’s cutting it way too close for comfort. Return the PSU you have, get a 500W one, and make sure it’s at least in the C-tier range. Better safe than sorry!
You definitely need to return that 250W PSU! It's not what you paid for, and you don't want to risk using it. Even if it somehow worked, you'd be risking your system by skimping on power. Get your money back and buy a proper 500W supply instead.
You should definitely consider returning it. While the combination of your CPU and GPU should use around 200W, running anything less than 500W is playing with fire. If you got a 250W PSU, you were scammed. Don't take any chances with cheap PSUs; they can be dangerous! Stick to brands that have solid reputations.
It’s good that you caught this. 250W might technically be enough for those components, but for efficiency and safety, you want to ensure you're at least at the 500W mark. Look up PSU tier lists before buying a new one. You want something reliable, not a ticking time bomb!
