Is a 360mm AIO Cooler Enough for Ryzen 7 9800X3D at Stock Speeds?

I'm about to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and I'm trying to figure out the best cooling solution to keep it running smoothly, especially during heavy workloads. My goal is to maintain peak temperatures below 75°C under stock settings, particularly when stress testing or running CPU-intensive tasks like emulating games on RPCS3 at 2560x1440p. Right now, I have a Ryzen 9 5900X with PBO enabled, which peaks around 70-71°C under heavy loads with my current BeQuiet! Pure Loop 2 FX 360mm AIO and thermal paste. I want to know if this cooling setup will be adequate for the 9800X3D, or if I should consider a more robust AIO or different cooling method. I'm especially interested in feedback from those who have experience with X3D CPUs in high-stress scenarios.

In my experience, a be quiet! 360mm is definitely more than enough. I've been running my 9800X3D with a 240mm AIO in a cramped SFF case, and my temps rarely hit 70°C during intensive tasks like Cinebench or gaming.

You're totally covered! I'm using a simpler setup and have seen my 9800X3D running much cooler than my previous 5800X3D. During gaming, it’s been in the 45-55°C range. So your 360mm cooler is more than sufficient!

For sure, you could go lower if you want, but keep in mind that AMD chips are designed to handle up to 95°C. If you want to stay under 75°C for headroom to overclock later, just disable PBO and limit the wattage. You’ll get great performance without risking overheating!

Absolutely! Your current 360mm AIO is likely one of the better cooling solutions available for the 9800X3D. You should be just fine keeping it under 75°C, especially with PBO disabled. If you enable PBO, you might hit that threshold, but it’ll use every bit of thermal headroom for optimal performance, which is pretty impressive tech, to be honest.

Yep, a 360mm cooler is definitely overkill for the 9800X3D. I've been using a basic Hyper 212, and I rarely see temperatures above 70°C even under load. You should have no issues.
