Is a 600W power supply enough for my GPU?

I'm building my first PC and I'm a bit confused about the power supply aspect. Can I use a 600W cable for my GPU? I'm not sure if my power supply is strong enough, but I have a 5070 Ti GPU and an MSI MAG A850GL power supply rated at 850W. Will this setup work?

The power supply and the GPU you use are crucial here. The ATX3.x standard indicates that the 12VHPWR cables can handle up to 600W sustained, but few GPUs actually reach that level. It's not just about the cable being labeled 600W; the PSU has to match with what your GPU requires. You've indicated you have an 850W PSU, which should be good for a 5070 Ti, but pay attention to those amp ratings!

It sounds like you might need to double-check your setup. Typically, a 600W cable refers to the 12VHPWR cable, which is meant for newer Nvidia 40 or 50 series cards. So make sure you know what graphics card you have. If you have a 5070 Ti, you're likely fine with your 850W PSU, but it's important to confirm that your PSU can support the whole build, especially if you're unsure about the cable ratings.

Just to clarify, when people mention a 600W cable, they mean the power supply rating, not the cable itself. Your setup should be okay since your PSU is 850W, which provides ample power for your 5070 Ti. However, always double-check for compatibility to avoid any unexpected issues. Also, keep in mind that some cables from lower-wattage PSU's may not be rated for the same power draw.
